IIA to explore social networking and business

7 Apr 2008

The Irish Internet Association (IIA) annual Congress this year will examine business use of social networking and new media.

The theme of this year’s IIA Congress, which will be held in the Croke Park Conference Centre on 15 May, is ‘Beyond Websites: Business Uses of Social Networking and New Media’.

“We are all aware of the explosion of social networking sites into our lives, but Congress 2008 will show the impact that social networking has had on business, successful integration of social networking into organisations’ business models and why it takes its rightful place as part of any company’s business tools,” said Fergal O’Byrne, CEO, IIA.

Speakers will include industry professionals from Bebo, Dell, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Microsoft, IGOpeople.com and Worldwide Cycles. The event will be chaired by Maeve Kneafsey, managing director of Elucidate and the IIA chair.

The Congress will for the first time feature ‘web strategy clinics’, where attendees will have a chance to book a one-on-one, 30-minute slot with an expert who will analyse their online strategy and advise on the best course of action.

The cost up until and including 11 April is €195 for members and €245 for non-members; thereafter its €245 and €345 respectively. Discounts for groups and people travelling from outside Dublin are available from the IIA.
