Senior executives from global internet giants Google, eBay, Yahoo and Bebo.com are coming together in Dublin to discuss the impact and future of the internet at an internet industry conference in May.

The high-profile speakers at the annual, day-long Irish Internet Association (IIA) Congress include David Jesse, managing director of eBay Ireland, Richard Firminger, regional sales director for Yahoo Search Marketing, Jim Scheinmann, vice-president of Business Development and Sales at web phenomenon Bebo.com and John Herlihy, director of Online Sales and Operations at Google Europe.

The chief executive of the IIA Fergal O’Byrne explained that the event will feature conference-style presentations but has also developed unique “in the round” sessions during the day where delegates will be able to tap into five teams of experts from areas including internet security, online marketing, hosting and domain issues, user experience and legal issues.

He said the event will be attended by more than 300 industry professionals. “The audience last year comprised senior managers, decision makers and key industry personnel. The IIA Congress is unique in that it provides excellent content in an educational and networking environment,” O’Byrne said.

This year’s IIA Congress will take place at the Fitzpatrick Hotel in Killiney, Dublin on Thursday, 25 May.
