iPhone 4 sells out on first day

16 Jun 2010

Reports from the US suggest the iPhone 4, which went on sale for pre-order yesterday, sold out on its first day with AT&T stocks running dry along with those on the Apple online store.

Many punters who pre-ordered the device won’t be getting their hands on them on launch day, 24 July.

Apple says the next batch of iPhone 4s won’t be ready for shipping until 2 July.

According to TechCrunch, the first day of pre-orders were bedevilled by technical hitches, with many people unable to complete their orders online or by phone. Apparently, the system is running just fine now.

People who will have to wait until 2 July may have to wait a little longer for their shiny new toy as this is just the shipping date.

However, there may be a window of opportunity for iPhone-crazed shoppers – the elusive white iPhone 4 didn’t go up for pre-sale last night and it is suggested a few may find their way in to the wild.
