iPhone app helps find available loos – in homes

A new iPhone app helps users find homeowners who will welcome them into their homes – to use their bathrooms.

The CLOO (for “community” and “loo”) app allows residents to create a social network to turn “any private bathroom into a public bathroom,” the New York developers of the app said on their website. The reason is to address “the problem of too-few easily accessible restrooms.”

App users seeking to answer the call of nature at a bathroom in someone’s home can pay the resident online for access to the bathroom, the website said.

Some New Yorkers, the New York Daily News reported, aren’t embracing the concept.

“My bathroom is my space, and I don’t want anyone else messing around in there,” Kaes Vanth, 25, told the newspaper.
