Irish digital media firm brings ‘Elbow Saves Christmas’ experience to London

16 Dec 2011

Irish digital media company vStream has developed a stereoscopic 3D visual experience for UK Christmas shoppers which lets children take part in the story and incorporates wind, lights and ‘elf dust.’

The animation is called ‘Elbow Saves Christmas’ and will be part of the Santa Grotto experience in Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City.

Each child in the audience will feature in the film. Their pictures will be displayed throughout the story, watching Elbow save Santa’s presents from the good-elf-turned-bad Fumble. There will also be added elements to the experience, including wind effects, light and ‘elf dust.’

The animation runs for seven minutes and was conceived by vStream using their Mirror 3D Personalisation Software.

The company was shortlisted for the 2011 Blades Awards in the digital category for their work on the Aviva Stadium 3D experience. It was housed in a specially built travelling simulator and was developed for Aviva to offer users the chance to personally experience life as a member of Ireland’s national rugby or football teams.

For its Christmas film, vStream expects 4,000-5,000 visitors per day, amounting to a possible 180,000 attendees this Christmas.

The Elbow Saves Christmas experience will run until Christmas Eve.
