Irish IT companies earn global kudos

Irish companies Singularity and Mentec International won awards at the 2006 Microsoft Worldwide Partner Awards in Boston.

Two other Irish companies, Relate Software and Neforce, were finalists in their respective categories. The four Irish companies were competing in a field of 2,400 companies from around the world.

Singularity won the Global Customer Awards for Sales and Marketing for a project they delivered for Bank Tokyo Mitsubishi, the world’s fifth-largest bank, for their securities loan processing division based on Microsoft’s .NET technology. The new system simplifies bank processes, providing higher levels of automation with faster and better service. The system removes 60pc of manual work, resulting in a 50pc reduction in processing time.

Mentec International was named Microsoft Dynamics GP International Partner of the Year in recognition of outstanding revenues from sales of Microsoft’s financial and business management solution, Dynamics GP.

Relate Software were finalists in the Independent Software Vendor category which identifies partners that have developed innovative packaged software services based on Microsoft technologies, in Relate Software’s case its DRIVE accountancy package.

Netforce were finalists in the Small Business Specialist award which recognises innovation in a Microsoft-based technology solution for businesses with 50 or fewer employees. The company made the final for a Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 implementation for Botany Weaving Mill.

“The continued global success of Irish companies is a great illustration of the strength of the IT software and services community in Ireland,” said Colin Cassidy, partner development manager, Microsoft Ireland. “We’re delighted to see four of our partners gain global recognition for their work. The success of Singularity, Mentec, Relate and Netforce showcases how our partners are using our technology to help customers to increase their efficiency and productivity with Microsoft technology.”

Multiple awards in the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Awards are distributed in four categories: Partner of the Year for Technology Innovation; Partner of the Year for Sales and Marketing; the Specialisation Excellence Awards; and the Microsoft Initiative Awards.
