A singer from Kilkenny has become the first artist ever to launch an entire album exclusively on a mobile phone.

Singer-songwriter Majella Murphy (pictured) has pre-loaded her new album Brave New World onto the Sony Ericsson Z530i, which will be made available exclusively from O2 Ireland

Sony Ericsson’s Pat Hughes commented: “This marks an exciting time for the collaboration of music and mobile phones. Partnering with mobile technology provides a vital opportunity for gifted artists such as Majella to connect with audiences in new and more immediate ways.”

The Z530i is a triple-band GPRS clamshell camera phone with PC connectivity and a music player. The phone has expandable memory to 1GB as well as Bluetooth and USB 2.0 conectivity.

The device, containing Majella Murphy’s album, will be available from O2 stores nationwide from early June.
