Irish Social Media Awards shortlist announced

20 May 2011

Irish Social Media Awards sponsor Bord Gáis Energy today announced the shortlist for the inaugural event.

The awards, which will be presented at a ceremony on Thursday, 26 May, in Dublin’s Mansion House, are designed to recognise talent in online interaction, engagement and innovation, and to highlight best practice and importance of social media in business.

2FM DJ Rick O’Shea is the MC on the night and will announce the winners of the 16 competitive categories. Attendees on the night will also be encouraged to have a go at customising a Bord Gáis Energybot on a Digital Graffiti wall and be in with a chance to win a prize on the night.

“We are overwhelmed with the fantastic response and amount of entries received for the awards,” said digital and social media manager at Bord Gáis Energy, Eoin O’Suilleabhain. “It highlights the importance of social media as part of an overall communications strategy and as a standalone channel, and no doubt this is just the beginning of things to come.”
