Meteor has announced a deal with Channel 6 which will see the mobile operator become the sole provider of text line services to the cable channel.
From now on, the number for all text voting and competition will be the same: 085 8666666.
“Meteor is delighted to become the official text partner for Channel 6 as texting is such a popular, instant and effective form of communications,” said Meadhbh Quinn, head of marketing communications, Meteor.
“By creating a single memorable SMS contact point for our channel – be it for competitions or voting – it’s now easier than ever for viewers to interact with their favourite programmes,” commented Michael Murphy, director of programming, Channel 6.
While Meteor customers signed up for Free texts for Life can text the station for free, non-Meteor customers will be charged standard text rates to interact with the channel.
Meteor had 972,000 subscribers as of January 2008, giving it an 18pc market share.
