More than 34,000 people have engaged in an online collaboration between Irish charities called the Better Together Campaign.
The campaign, supported by EBS Building Society, focuses on a website where people can register support for community and voluntary groups by voting on their favourite videos on the site, volunteering or donating.
More than 200 groups submitted videos between 13 October and 15 November. Some 55,580 visits and 3,334,888 page views were recorded on the site during this time.
The 30 organisations with the most votes have been shortlisted for the Better Together Awards, which will take place on Thursday.
The shortlisted videos can be viewed on the Better Together site. Three cash prizes of €3,000 are on offer for three categories.
The Wheel, a national umbrella body who represent 860 community and voluntary groups, lead the initiative with EBS.
“Technology may be changing the way we connect with each other, but the desire to be part of a community is as strong as ever,” said Deirdre Garvey, chief executive officer of The Wheel.
“This campaign shows that technology can actually help to build stronger communities,” she said.
