Pinterest rolls out new web analytics tool for website owners

12 Mar 2013

Social media player Pinterest has revealed a new analytics tool called Pinterest Web Analytics that gives users and businesses access to data on what people are pinning the most.

The tool gives website owners insights into how people are interacting with pins that originate on their websites.

Website owners who are verified by Pinterest will get information about how many people have pinned from their sites, how many people have seen these pins, and how many people visited their sites from Pinterest.

“We’ll also show you a selection of your most repinned, most clicked, and most recent pins so you have a better idea of what’s popular,” explained Tao Tao, software engineer with Pinterest.

“For example, if you have a travel blog, you’ll be able to see whether people are pinning your ski vacation posts or beach vacation posts more.”

The new tool is available to website owners who have switched to the new-look Pinterest and whose site has the verified check mark.

Tao said the new web analysis tool comes from the same family of website owner tools, such as business accounts, Pin It buttons and board widgets, and suggested more analysis tools will be revealed in the coming months.
