For Leaving Certificate students, the date of their final exams is looming, but modern-day sixth-years can rest assured that when it comes to the poetry section of Irish paper II: there’s an app for that.
PoetryBeo is available now for Android and iOS and a Windows Phone app is in development. The app acts as a complete study aid for Irish Leaving Cert poetry and contains each poem from both the higher level and ordinary level curricula, complete with notes, glossaries and line-by-line explanations.
The app also includes videos of each poem read aloud with subtitles, or users can just listen to an audio file. Sample questions and answers have been provided, as well as a game to take some of the tedium out of studying.
For those who struggle with the text as Gaeilge, the app has a simple switch to change the language from Irish to English.
