The most outstanding contributors to microblogging site Twitter and social media in general will be honoured at the third annual Shorty Awards, which is now seeking nominations.
The Shorty Awards website invites members of the public to nominate their favourite Twitter users in various categories, such as best actor, author and cultural institution on Twitter, to the new ‘Foursquare Mayor of the Year’ and ‘Foursquare Location of the Year’ categories.
Nominations are made via tweets, with the maximum count of 140 characters.
A combination of popular vote and “members of the new Real-Time Academy of Short Form Arts & Sciences“, the Shorty Awards website said, will determine the winners.
An awards ceremony, with 140-character acceptance speeches, will be held in New York City in March.
