Taxback.com launches iPhone app in response to demand

8 Feb 2011

Tax specialist company Taxback.com has launched an iPhone app in response to demand from twentysomethings, who already make up almost two-thirds of its tax reclaim customers.

It is expected the app will result an increase of 20pc of people in this age group claiming tax back this year, which could result in tax refunds of €27m.

It will also entice older smartphone users to get what they’re owed by making the process less laborious and more time efficient.

The new app will allow users to calculate their estimated tax rebate and make applying for tax reliefs and tracking the progress of a reclaim easier.

“We developed this app in response to huge demand from our customers in the 20-30 age bracket – the largest demographic to currently engage in smartphone technology,” said Aoife Twohig, senior marketing manager with Taxback.com.

“However, as research has suggested, the smartphone market is set to explode in 2011 and could reach 1.5m users, many of whom will be in their 30s, 40s and older. We firmly believe our app will be a key resource for these new users also.

Making tax reclaim process more accessible

“Since Christmas, we’ve seen a 400pc increase in traffic to our website from mobile web users, so by making the tax reclaim process more accessible to them, we’re expecting the same spike in applications across all age groups.”

Established in Dublin in 1996 by Terry Clune and led by a team of entrepreneurial business executives, Taxback.com has 27 offices worldwide, in Europe, Australasia, the United States and South America, and a staff of more than 630 people.

Clune was the overall winner of the 2009 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Ireland and Taxback.com also won a Deloitte Best Managed Companies Award.
