TG4 launches its upgraded live streaming and catch-up services, TG4 LIVE and TG4 ARCHIVE this coming week, with coverage of the 10th Annual TG4 Traditional Irish Music Awards, Gradam Ceoil TG4 2010, to be broadcast on Easter Sunday, 4 April.
Using the new TG4 Live service, viewers around the world will be able to watch most of TG4’s Irish-language output live online as it is broadcast on television in Ireland. The upgraded TG4 Archive catch-up service, meanwhile, allows viewers everywhere (including Ireland) to watch recently broadcast TG4 content for a month after its TV transmission.
Both upgraded services will be powered by TeliaSonera International Carrier’s Media Distribution Service.
“TG4 has a dedicated following worldwide and users of our Live and Archive services deserve and expect a user-friendly high-quality picture,” said Peadar Ó Flatharta, TG4 webmaster, said. “TeliaSonera’s MDS service fits well with our needs and was chosen because it offered us a quality, reliable solution that would allow us to serve audiences around the world. Further anticipated developments include adaptive streaming, interactive subtitling and a social interaction platform to allow viewers to converse while watching TG4 programmes,” he said.
