Travelshake launches Facebook microsite app for tourism industry

Irish start-up Travelshake has created a Facebook app to let businesses within the tourism industry make a marketing microsite with their Facebook page.

The app includes a video player, photo galleries, a map which can send the business’ location to an iPhone or a Twitter feed and a contact form.

It can be set as the Facebook page’s landing page and offers a custom colour palette for a branded skin.

“With Facebook now commanding up to 38pc of total internet traffic, travel businesses are beginning to give more attention to their Facebook presence,” said Laughlin Rigby, marketing director for Travelshake.

“However, many are still underutilising their pages and some are installing booking apps without giving their visitors any reason to book with them.

“Our app addresses these problems by providing Facebook visitors with inspiring rich media and content that will increase fan engagement and help convert lookers to bookers. We even have a direct booking link on the app to allow companies to let their fans book directly with them.”

Travelshake launched its social media microsites in Ireland last year and are now used by more than 1,000 travel companies across 77 countries.

Businesses can sign up for a basic microsite and a smartmap app or can avail of all its Facebook apps and an enhanced microsite.
