Trick or tweet? Twitter to get its own TV show

26 May 2009

A new reality TV show that puts Twitter users on the frontline as reporters tracking celebrities is currently in the works by the production team responsible for NBC’s Ugly Betty, Samantha Who? and The Office.

The team behind the proposed new show includes Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Reveille Productions, which is headed by producer-extraordinaire Ben Silverman and was bought by Shine Productions last year for US$125m.

The new show is understood to be the brainchild of Amy Ephron, a novelist.

The plan is to launch an unscripted show that puts ordinary people on the trail of celebrities.

It will be the first TV show that incorporates the micro-blogging tool into the format of the show.
