TripAdvisor unpacks instant hotel booking feature for mobile

12 Jun 2014

Travellers can now book a hotel via TripAdvisor’s mobile app and mobile website on smartphone now that the travel site has launched its instant booking feature.

Instant booking is currently available in the US, with a gradual roll out to additional markets and with more partners expected later this year. Current instant booking launch partners include Tingo, Choice Hotels, and Getaroom.com.

Adam Medros, senior vice-president, global product, TripAdvisor, said the company is launching the instant booking feature to remove ‘friction’ from the mobile booking process and improve the customer experience on mobile by allowing travellers to make a reservation without leaving the TripAdvisor environment.

“Instant booking not only provides a more efficient hotel booking experience for travellers, but also benefits our hotel and online travel agency partners with the potential for more bookings and improved downstream conversion,” Medros added.

The launch of TripAdvisor’s instant hotel booking feature on mobile follows the company’s latest TripBarometer study that reveals 90pc of travellers use their mobile phones on vacation, with 27pc using their mobile phones to look for hotels.
