TV3 reality show launches matching mobile app

Accessories can make or break an outfit and a TV show too it seems. Recently launched TV3 reality series ‘Celebrity Salon’ is the first-ever Irish TV show to launch a complimentary mobile phone app, which is in association with Nokia Ireland.

For those following the beauty-salon exploits of Virginia Macari, Brian Dowling (of Big Brother 2 fame), Pippa O’Connor, Breffny from The Apprentice et al you’ll be pleased to know that this free app from the Irish Ovi Store gives you their favourite beauty tips, but the twist is the contestants themselves were tasked with designing the app’s look, feel and features.

“It’s great for Nokia Ireland to be part of a new idea and what I mean is the use of a task in Celebrity Salon to develop an application as well as designing an icon that will make the app stand out from thousands of other apps on the Ovi Store,” said Shane O’Brien of Nokia Ireland.

“The Celebrity Salon app will give customers beauty tips and tricks even after the show has ended and it is available exclusively on the Ovi Store now.”

The app for Nokia handsets from the Ovi Store was developed by Axonista who has an international client base including MTV, ESPN and Setanta Sport.

Executive producer of Celebrity Salon Stephen McCormack said: “At Straywave we are committed to making TV programmes that integrate seamlessly with digital media and interactive technologies.

“We want to enhance the viewing experience as much as possible and engage the viewer. We see mobile apps as a key part of our strategy and we were delighted to work with TV3, Nokia and Axonista to achieve this first for Irish broadcasting.”
