The creator, co-founder and chairman of Twitter, Jack Dorsey will be speaking at the Dublin Web Summit on 29 October.
It will be held at Trinity College DUblin and the full event, which will have 50 speakers in total, will be 12 hours long.
Jack Dorsey was born in St. Louis in Missouri. He always had an interest in computer software and in his early teens developed a strong interest designing dispatch routing software for taxis and couriers, which became his early career.
He dropped out of New York University and left his programming job to move to San Francisco in 1999.
By 2000 Dorsey had started a taxi dispatching company via the internet by 2000, but the company folded during the dotcom bust.
He later got a job at Odeo, a podcasting company. He approached the creative director Biz Stone with the idea of a social communication service with limited character capacity to let people know what they were doing.
Both Stone and Dorsey produced a prototype for this service, simply as a side project to what they were currently doing within Odeo.
The pair were joined by Evan Williams, Odeo’s co-founder. The three launched Twitter and it has seen enormous success, with over 100 million registered users and attracting celebrity users such as Steven Fry, Ashton Kutcher and Lady Gaga.
