Twitter has begun rolling out a new profile homepage for users that allows them to post a header image, a profile pic and highlight their most popular and successful tweets.
The new profile page – which is similar to social network Facebook in terms of the large header image with a profile picture box on the left-hand side – certainly looks stylish and welcoming and pays heavy credence to large photography in the centre column.
The whole design is skewed towards highlighting content. Tweets that have received more engagement will be displayed larger than other tweets.
Users will also be able to pin their tweets to the top of their page – we’ll call that making a statement.
Users can also edit the view of the timeline of other users they wish to see, be it tweets, tweets with photos and videos, or tweets and replies.
“This new profile setup is available today to a small group of users,” said Twitter designer David Bellona.
“If you’re new to Twitter, you’ll start in with the new profile. In the coming weeks, we will roll out the new features to everyone.”
A number of high-profile Twitter accounts that have been granted early versions of the new design include film stars @zacefron and @channingtatum; French TV host @nikosaliagas; US First Lady Michelle Obama; boxer @FloydMayweather, musician @JohnLegend, and band @weezer.
