Twitter’s new email update brings the best tweets straight to your inbox

15 May 2012

Twitter users won’t miss a trend with the roll out of a personalised weekly update of the best tweets being spread by their connections.

In a blog post yesterday, director of growth and international at Twitter, Othman Laraki, announced that users can now sign up to receive ‘the best of Twitter’ as a weekly email.

The regular update will be a personalised summary of the week’s most relevant tweets and stories from the people you’re connected to on Twitter. The top stories being spread by people you follow will be highlighted, and you can follow the links to read them in full or tweet directly from the email to add your two cents.

Like the recently updated Discover tab, Laraki explained the weekly digest will clearly show who shared what stories, as well as related tweets from people you follow. The email can also help you expand your Twitterverse by including tweets that have been retweeted and favourited by the people you follow, whether you follow the account it came from or not.

This new service will be rolled out over the next few weeks and users will be invited to sign up by email, so keep an eye on your inbox if you want to give it a try.

Of course, you can always subscribe here to receive Siliconrepublic.com’s selection of the tech tweets of the week.
