WeddingsOnline and Confetti enter deal to target UK market

Irish weddings website WeddingsOnline is taking a 25pc equity stake in Confetti, the UK’s largest wedding supplies web retailer and marketing business.

As part of the deal, two WeddingsOnline directors, managing director Peter Bryans and finance director Robert Truesdale, will join the Confetti board and direct strategy to maximise opportunities in the UK wedding media market.

“WeddingsOnline has done great things in the Irish wedding media market and we’re looking forward to working with Confetti, to strengthen the businesses on both sides. We are very excited about bringing our experience to an already established brand and to seeing what can be achieved in the much larger UK market,” said Bryans.

With more than 70,000 registered brides and grooms, WeddingsOnline.ie is the busiest wedding website in the country.

More than 80pc of Irish brides use WeddingsOnline.ie to source wedding service suppliers; it is Ireland’s largest weddings discussion forum and supplier directory and currently has 220,000 unique visitors per month. WeddingsOnline.ie is in the top 10 most accessed Irish sites.

Confetti markets itself as the UK’s No 1 wedding website. Launched in 1999, the company recently won, for the second year running, the Wedding Ideas 2011 Award for Best Special Touches.
