One of the forces behind the speedy drive for internet of things (IoT) adoption, Intel has just released a whole new platform, including two reference architectures and a range of software and hardware products.
Intel’s IoT products include new Quark processors, free operating systems and a cloud suite from Wind River, as well as analytics capabilities.
The processors provide low-power silicon for connected devices, offering extended temperature and long-life reliability.
The reference architecture “provides a blueprint” for those looking to deliver innovation by reducing complexity and defining how smart devices will securely connect and share trusted data to the cloud.
SAP is already in place to bring forward products through the new releases, developing services by combining the Intel platform with its HANA cloud platform.
The new offering from Wind River, the company said, lets makers “simplify” and speed up IoT development, “with the ability to start building applications in 10 minutes”.
“Today, Intel further solidifies its position in the IoT and continues to deliver a comprehensive set of building blocks with a strong ecosystem to address the IoT opportunity,” said Doug Davis, SVP of Intel’s IoT group.
“Intel is making it easier for our customers to scale from things to cloud with new Intel Quark processors for IoT and Wind River’s free cloud-connected OS for microcontrollers.”
