Recent research found that 30pc of Irish organisations are planning to deploy desktop virtualisation in 2011. The Virtual Computing Forum has been organised by Citrix Systems and its Irish distributor DataSolutions. It will provide Irish organisations, no matter what size, with the knowledge of how and why they should be implementing desktop virtualisation, the tangible cost savings and how it is changing the landscape for IT management.

Well-known Irish companies will demonstrate how they are using desktop virtualisation to stimulate growth and employee productivity while making IT more efficient. Ryanair will reveal how it is supporting its web-booking application and lowering its online operating costs by implementing Citrix’s latest web acceleration technology.

The event has been designed to provide business decision makers, including the CEO, CFO, CIO and IT directors and managers with insight into how businesses are using desktop virtualisation for flexible, efficient and cost-effective delivery of desktops and applications.

Those who attend the event will be given the opportunity to take part in live demonstrations and get hands-on experience of the advantages available to them from desktop virtualisation. With Windows 7 set to continue the trend towards desktop virtualisation, Microsoft and Citrix will be on hand to describe how to best leverage virtualisation technology.

Additionally, the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) phenomenon is exploding all around the world, allowing employees to use personal devices for work purposes. This is creating enormous management problems for the IT department. Citrix recently found that 87pc of its resellers reported growth in demand for virtualisation technologies. Citrix will describe how organisations can securely manage this trend, ensuring employees can remain productive and data remains secure, no matter what device they are using.

Any organisation thinking about desktop virtualisation or is simply curious about how it works and the significant gains will benefit from attending this comprehensive event.

This event is organised in partnership with Citrix and Microsoft and is also sponsored by Shoretel, RSA Security, AppSense and DataCore.
