Foo Fighters

HBO premiers its new eight-part rockumentary Sonic Highways this Friday and, to celebrate, the US cable network has inked a deal with Facebook to stream a live concert featuring the series’ stars, Foo Fighters.

Directed by band frontman Dave Grohl, Sonic Highways follows Foo Fighters as the band travels to eight studios in eight different cities across the US to write and record its album of the same name.

The series will debut at 11pm EST on Friday, Variety reported, and the concert, Foo Fighters Sonic Highways: Live From The Cubby Bear, is to be streamed via the HBO Facebook page at midnight (that’s 5am Irish time on Saturday, but whether or not the stream will be accessible to blurry-eyed fans on the European side of the Atlantic is unclear).

The Cubby Bear features in the series’ first episode and, having seen his first ever punk-rock show there, the Chicago venue holds personal meaning to Grohl.

Sonic Highways, Foo Fighters’ eighth album, is due to be released on 10 November.
