Nintendo preparing to launch New 3DS in US on 13 February

14 Jan 2015

The latest edition of Nintendo’s popular DS handheld game console series, the New 3DS, will be released in the US on 13 February.

That’s according to Ars Technica reports that also say the consumer electronics giant will begin taking pre-orders for the device tomorrow.

Nintendo announced the rather confusingly named New Nintendo 3DS last August ahead of its October release in Japan.

Also available on 13 February will be the New Nintendo 3DS XL, the console’s larger variant.

The device features a new analog stick (C-Stick) and a ‘Super-Stable 3D’ function to provide players with a more comfortable 3D gaming experience. It also features backward compatibility, giving users the choice of picking up older DS titles, as well as new releases.
