Minecraft: Windows 10 primed for Oculus Rift experience

25 Sep 2015

Back in June, Xbox announced a partnership between it, Oculus Rift and Windows 10. The result? Well, now Minecraft is joining the fold.

Xbox One controllers are now included with every Oculus Rift, with an app housed on the controller installing on your Windows 10 PC if you connect them up.

Through that, you can jump between Xbox One and PC games on Oculus Rift, which was scenario that was always going to result in something cool.

However we didn’t expect the first major release to involve one of the most popular computer games on the planet.

Now Xbox has announced that Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition will support Oculus Rift and will be available early next year.

“The Oculus Rift will immerse you in a virtual reality Minecraft world in which you’ll be able to play Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition in Creative or Survival mode – in full 3D,” claims the company.

“And, as with all versions of Minecraft, Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition supports multiplayer so you can play cooperatively and build, mine and explore your virtual world with friends.”

It’s bound to prove popular, as anything involving Minecraft does, but there’s no footage of what it will actually look like available just yet.

Although you can download the beta edition for the non-VR edition of the game for around US$10.
