The Fab Four are about to join the streaming revolution

It’s been a Hard Day’s Night for Beatles fans in the digital age, as an epic wait that felt like Eight Days a Week will now be ended with news that the Beatles’ catalogue will grace the stages of Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, Deezer, Tidal and Amazon Prime from Christmas Eve.

The Beatles had been slow to join the digital age after an epic six-year wait just to get the catalogue on iTunes ended in 2010 with the band selling 2m songs during its first week.

The Beatles music was first released on CD in 1987, but it wasn’t until 22 years later that the band decided to re-master their work.

According to various reports, the popular 60s group’s back catalogue will finally make it to the world’s top streaming services this Christmas Eve.

Suggestions that The Beatles may arrive on a streaming platform in time for Christmas first emerged on Billboard last week. According to Re/Code, The Beatles won’t, however, be arriving on Pandora or Rdio, which is shutting down this week.

Formed in Liverpool in 1960 by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, The Beatles went on to define a generation, and their music inspired an unforgettable wave of “Beatlemania” in Europe and the US.

Nicknamed the Fab Four, The Beatles enjoyed stellar success with acclaimed albums like Rubber Soul, Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the White Album and Abbey Road.

After their break-up in 1970, each of the members enjoyed successful music careers.

Lennon was shot and killed in New York in 1980 while George Harrison died of lung cancer in 2001.

The news that the Fab Four are coming to the streaming world will be the ultimate Christmas present for fans of the band’s music, who have been waiting for this moment for some time.
