Amazon has a new game studio, and a literary Facebook game (video)

7 Aug 2012

Amazon has revealed its new games team, Amazon Game Studios, along with the release of a new social game for Facebook, Living Classics, that sees gameplay take place amid the world of classic children’s literature.

In the free-to-play game, a family of foxes has gotten lost among the illustrations from their favourite books, from Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz and King Arthur to historic tales from ancient Greece.

The player’s job is to reunite the fox family by exploring the scenes and spotting the moving objects. As this is a social game, players can visit and share rewards with friends.

Amazon Games Studio itself has been kept hush-hush until the unveiling of its first game, and this may see the online retail giant spark new rivalry with online game producers such as Zynga.
