Amy Winehouse tops iTunes albums charts

Singer Amy Winehouse has topped the iTunes Store Top 10 Albums charts in 14 countries, two days after she was found dead in her London home.

Winehouse’s album Back to Black is No 1 on the iTunes album charts in the UK, US, France, Germany and Canada. In Ireland, the album is at No 2.

Back to Black (Deluxe Edition) hit No 1 in Spain, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

Winehouse, whose struggles with drugs and alcohol has been well documented, was 27. Police said her death is “unexplained” but a post-mortem exam is to be carried out today.

The singer’s family said in a statement they have been left “bereft” by their loss.

Fans have left tributes outside Winehouse’s home, which include cards, photos and flowers, as well as packs of cigarettes and bottles of vodka.
