Angry Birds inspires new cartoon series

19 Jan 2011

It has emerged that the wildly popular Angry Birds mobile game, which began as an iPhone app and has found its way to the PC, has inspired a new cartoon show.

Production is understood to have begun on the new animated series and staff at the game’s creator, Rovio, have been hard at work developing the broadcast content for Angry Birds.

Developed by Rovio Mobile and published by Chillingo and Clickgamer Media, the addictive game sees angry birds launched to attack structures guarded by evil pigs.

A gaming classic

The Angry Birds game has become an iPhone classic and across all platforms that host it – including the Android and Symbian platforms – more than 50m downloads have been made, 12m from Apple’s Apps Store alone.

It was recently launched for Windows 7 and XP devices on Intel’s AppUp centre for netbook computers.

Rovio CEO Mikael Hed has said the company has been working on the animation series for quite a while and that production has already started.
