Angry Birds swoop on Facebook

14 Feb 2012

Facebook users can expect lots of requests from friends challenging them to Angry Birds matches and gifting them power-ups. Angry Birds went live on Facebook overnight and the famous game comes with interesting sharing and social commerce potential.

Angry Birds‘ creator Rovio has added new social components, including power-ups, a shareable scoring system and Facebook-exclusive levels.

The social elements include the ability to brag and earn coveted gold, silver and bronze crowns.

Rovio’s foray onto Facebook also indicates new commercial models, beginning with the ability buy and gift friends mystery gifts and power-ups.

The new Facebook game includes four power-ups: a Sling Scope for laser targeting, Super Seeds to supersize your bird, King Sling for adding power and velocity, and Birdquake for bringing defences crashing to the ground.

Below is a quick video showing the new Angry Birds Sling Scope power-up that Facebook users can buy and share with their friends.
