Internet search giant Google has caught a touch of football fever and has marked the start of the World Cup 2014 football tournament in Brazil today with an animated Google Doodle on its homepage.
The stylised Google logo features a football in the colours of the Brazilian flag, green and yellow, bouncing and rolling beneath the word ‘Google’.
Arms and legs then grow out of the letters in the word ‘Google’ and while the figures jump up and down, a cartoon vista of Rio de Janeiro unfolds in the background, complete with its Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer statue.
The first match of World Cup 2014 will see Brazil and Croatia face off against each other at Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo at 5pm Sao Paulo time today.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup runs until 13 July.
