Apple has listed the most-downloaded apps of all time, as the iTunes App Store approaches 10bn downloads.
The most-downloaded free app for the iPhone was found to be the Facebook app, proving once again the popularity of the almost 600m-strong social network.
The second most-downloaded app was found to be the personalised radio app Pandora and in third was the Google Mobile app.
Games dominated the most-downloaded paid app list for the iPhone, with Doodle Jump coming in at No 1. The Tap Tap Revenge franchise managed to get three of its games on the list, at Nos 2, 5 and 8. Angry Birds landed at No 4.
On the iPad, Pandora was the top most-downloaded free app. The Google Mobile App came in at No 2. It’s worth noting that Facebook does not yet have an official iPad app, which is why it’s absent from the list.
The most-downloaded paid apps for Apple’s tablet computer was Soundhound, a music search and discovery app.
Apple is closing in on the 10 billionth app download. At the time of writing, the counter is at 9.92bn.
