Permanently gloomy comedian Bill Murray will play off that sourpuss reputation in the upcoming Netflix-produced holiday special A Very Murray Christmas.
That’s if this newly-released teaser trailer is anything to go by. The dialogue-free preview sees Murray overlooking New York City from a distinctly Lost In Translation-like hotel room, before glumly turning to camera to the sound of some bluesy piano keys. Oh, Bill’s also wearing antlers. Click below to watch.
The film is actually written and directed by Sofia Coppola, who last worked with Murray on Lost In Translation. A homage to classic Christmas variety shows, the actor will play a fictionalised version of himself as he prepares to tries to host a TV show in the middle of a raging snow storm.
Due for release this December (just in time for the holidays), A Very Murray Christmas promises to be a star-studded event, with George Clooney, Chris Rock, Miley Cyrus, Rashida Jones and Michael Cera, among many others, expected to make appearances.
Murray is, of course, already synonymous with the season thanks to his 1988 film Scrooged, but this new project ought to make him the most Christmassy of all Hollywood actors.
