US fans who have been waiting to binge on the final eight episodes of Breaking Bad on Netflix need only wait a little longer: the last half of season 5 arrives on the streaming service in on 24 February.

Subscribers in Ireland and the UK were able to immediately watch the series’ final episodes on Netflix after they had aired on AMC Networks in the US.

News of the 24 February date comes as Breaking Bad attracted two Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles last night. The programme won in the Best Television Series – Drama category, and actor Bryan Cranston won the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama, for his portrayal of chemistry-teacher-turned-drug-kingpin Walter White.

While Breaking Bad may be over now, fans can look forward to a spin-off, Better Call Saul, that sees actor Bob Odenkirk reprise his role as crooked lawyer Saul Goodman.

Better Call Saul is to reach Netflix users in Europe and Latin America within days of its US broadcast on AMC Networks, beginning in November, the network announced on Saturday at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, California.
