Copan treasure hunt postponed due to snow

30 Nov 2010

Copan the game, the Irish e-marketing initiative where users scour the streets of Dublin using augmented reality technology to find prizes, has been postponed due to the heavy snow in Ireland.

The game was due to start today, however, because of the bad weather conditions, it has been delayed.

The new start date will be confirmed on 98FM, its website or the Copan Facebook page at a later stage.

The game is loosely based on Mayan culture and for a week, players will use QR codes, augmented reality and GPS technology to navigate the streets of Dublin to find virtual tombs and hidden treasure.

Players earn points by completing challenges at each location. The top 50 scoring players will get an invite to the opening of the Copan Bar in Rathmines, Dublin. The top 10 players will win significant prizes, including a top prize of an all-expenses paid holiday for two to South America.
