Facebook introduces ‘Events for You’ feature in redesign

4 Jul 2014

Social network Facebook has given its Events page a makeover and added an ‘Events for You’ feature that lists events that may be of particular interest to the particular user.

The redesign and new feature is still in testing mode with some users.

The new look is more organised than Facebook’s previous Events page, and the ‘Events for You’ feature is in a column on the right-hand side of the page.

Facebook explained how the listings in ‘Events for You’ show up on a user’s Events page.

“Suggested events are events that you’re connected to through your friends, Pages you like, places you’ve checked-in at and the apps you use on Facebook,” Facebook said.

Besides potentially helping users get out an about, ‘Events for You’ may interest events organisers in increasing the promotion of their events on the social network, thus ‘Events for You’ also serving as a monetisation tool for Facebook.
