Facebook to retire old embeddable Like Box

20 Apr 2015

Facebook is to retire its old embeddable Like Box, replacing it with a cleaner and newer plugin that will allow publishers and brands to pull in posts from their Facebook timeline.

Facebook has revealed that the current Like Box plugin is to be retired on 23 June.

“With the release of API v.2.3, the Like Box plugin is deprecated and will stop working on 23 June 2015,” the company said.

The newer Page Plugin will allow publishers to easily embed and promote any Facebook Page on their website and visitors can like and share the page without having to leave the website.

“Use the new Page Plugin instead. The Page Plugin allows you to embed a simple feed of content from a Page onto your websites,” Facebook said.
