GAMER Expo 2010 set for Halloween weekend

GAMER Expo 2010, the largest Irish exhibition for gaming, will be running in Citywest Events Centre in Dublin from October 29 to October 31.

90,000 square foot of floor space will be dedicated to video games. The ground floor will feature demo areas, stands and booths where attendees can play new and upcoming releases. There will also be a separate retailer’s area.

The exhibition will cater for all kinds of gamers, from hardcore to casual.

Exhibitors will include international and national technology, accessory and computer games companies, with many Irish previews of soon to be released products.

Suppliers include Ubisoft, Playseats, Genius and Warner Bros. Interactive.

Over 18 restricted titles will be exhibited on enclosed stand only which will be monitored by staff to keep the main exhibition as family friendly as possible.

The Expo expects over 18,000 gamers, families and clans to be a part of it over the three days.

Highlights include the chance to try out an OVIE pod, a fully enclosed air conditioned pod with ergonomic seating, surround sound and a screen, and a 3D theatre, an area to play 3D games on the largest 3D TV in Ireland, with a 65 inch display.

There will also be a One Family Table Quiz on Saturday, a fancy dress quiz with retro and modern gaming questions and a Cosplay Day on Sunday, where gamers can dress up as their favourite game, movie or anime characters for Halloween.

The expo will provide custom built war areanas for multi-player games and a Live Stage and Seminar Room with numerous tournaments, updates and presentations.

Tickets are on sale now. Daily tickets cost €10 for adults (over 12s), €4 for children and €20 for a family of 2 adults and 3 children under 17.

At the door prices cost €15 for adults (over 12s), €6 for children and €30 for families.

Weekend Passes cost €20 and are only available for those who register with the GAMER Club and through their promotions team.
