Gigglebit is Siliconrepublic’s daily dose of the funny and fantastic in science and tech, to help start your day on a lighter note. This week, a really cool selfie from space…

Astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti is a bit of a legend…

The astronaut, who is currently aboard the ISS circling the Earth, posted this Star Trek themed selfie to Twitter over the weekend.

Dressing up to pay homage to legendary Star Trek character Capt Kathryn Janeway, Cristoforetti tweeted: "There's coffee in that nebula"… ehm, I mean… in that #Dragon.”

The Dragon in question is the SpaceX Dragon freighter, which arrived on the ISS last week with supplies for those onboard, including the ISSpresso, a new kind of coffeemaker that can be used in space.

Cristoforetti, who has boldly gone where no Italian woman has gone before by being the first in space, is of course not the first ISS astronaut to be an avid tweeter from space, with Cmdr Chris Hadfield and his Space Oddity cover probably the most famous social media content to come out of space.

Cristoforetti, who arrived on the ISS in November and is due to return to Earth in May, is an avid tweeter from the ISS and is well worth a follow for those interested in seeing images from space.

Go on, follow her there, you know resistance is futile.
