Instagram snaps 150m user milestone

10 Sep 2013

More than 150m people are now using photo-filtering and sharing app Instagram, with 50m of those users having joined Instagram in the last six months.

Among those new users is US space agency NASA, which announced it opened an official Instagram account late last week.

Instagram users are revealing themselves to be more and more of an international bunch, too. Now, more than 60pc of users are from outside the US, in places such as Berlin, Moscow, Reykjavik and Hong Kong, Instagram said.

“Whether it’s documenting protests in Egypt, sharing the trip of a lifetime across the United States or snapping #petselfiez, this community continues to surprise us every day with your creativity, sense of adventure and unique perspectives on the world,” Instagram said in a blog post.

“We’re more committed than ever to bringing you the best Instagram experience possible.”
