Microsoft releases popular Office Lens app to iPhone and Android platforms

3 Apr 2015

Microsoft’s popular Office Lens app that turns a smartphone into a pocket scanner has been released for iPhone and Android smartphones.

One of the breakout apps of the Windows Phone ecosystem, the app works with OneNote to ensure users never lose anything.

It is used to take pictures of receipts, business cards, menus, whiteboards, sticky notes and more.

The app is so clever that it uses optical character recognition (OCR) to turn a document’s text into a Word, PowerPoint or PDF.

It can also convert images of business cards into database contacts.

Office Lens for iPhone is available for free at the Apple App Store.

Additionally, a preview of Office Lens for Android phones is available today, with features similar to Office Lens for iPhone, by clicking on the Become a Tester link and following the instructions.
