A new version of Snake is coming to iOS, Android and Windows Phone

6 May 2015

Remember Snake? That simple but super-addictive video game that was probably included on your very first Nokia phone back in the day?

Well, prepare to spend countless more hours staring your device as the latest version, Snake Rewind, is set to be released next week (14 May) for iOS, Android and Windows Phone platforms.

Designed by Taneli Armanto, the creator of the original Nokia version of Snake, this updated edition will feature those familiar gameplay elements you know and love, but with more modern visual effects and sounds, plus a few new additions too. The game will be free to download, with in-app purchases.

Versions of Snake have actually been kicking around since 1976 and the release of Blockade to arcades. It’s Armanto, however, who is credited with bringing it to mobile phones back in 1997. Since then, the game has been included on more than 400 million Nokia devices.

For this new version of Snake, Armanto has teamed up with Rumilus Design, an independent game studio based in Finland. Click below for a preview.
