Panasonic calls on developers to design 3D and HDTV apps

9 Jul 2011

Consumer electronics giant Panasonic has opened up its VIERA Connect platform to third-party developers and media companies to develop innovative applications and services for the TV screen.

The new portal allows developers to take advantage of quick response and rich multimedia HD expression capabilities of its VIERA Connect platform. Applications built for the platform can be deployed in VIERA Connect, which has become available worldwide from this spring.

VIERA Connect provides viewers with a wide lineup of applications which run on Panasonic’s Application Execution Engine.

The new app developers will be offered the opportunity to develop cloud-based IPTV services as well as 3D apps.

On the portal, developers will get access to VIERA Connect’s application program interface (API), technical information, reference code and other assistance required to develop VIERA Connect applications.

VIERA Connect, which is available in about 100 countries around the world since spring this year, offers a wide range of TV applications, such as video-on-demand services, music, sports, games, health and fitness.
