PayPal mobile app released for Android tablets

19 Sep 2014

PayPal Here, the online payment company’s mobile app, has been released for Android tablets.

The latest version of the app retains all the features existing users will be familiar with, including the ability for small businesses to take payments on the move.

However, like the mobile version, PayPal Here for Android has yet to be rolled out in the Republic of Ireland and is only available to download via Google Play in Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

“With PayPal Here, we’ve been helping many small businesses grow by enabling them to get paid anywhere in their stores and on the go,” said PayPal Here product manager Lucy He in a statement. “We’re also giving their customers the convenience to pay using their mobile devices by checking in through the PayPal app.”

Last month, Ryanair began accepting payments for flights through PayPal. The move formed part of the airline’s ‘Always Getting Better’ public relations campaign to rebrand itself as a friendlier and more customer-focused company.

Plans to release a version of the PayPal Here app to the Irish market have yet to be announced.
