It’s only taken two weeks, but we have what appears to be the first Pokémon player in North America to have actually caught ’em all, or at least all that are available at the moment.
If you’re fed up catching Pidgeys and Ratattas on Pokémon Go all day long, then try not to feel jealous of one rather dedicated Pokémon Go player who took to the web to proclaim his pride at the fact that he managed to catch all of the available Pokémon in the game.
Reddit user ftb_hodor posted a photo of his claim on the Pokémon Go subreddit showing that he had captured 142 out of 142 available Pokémon thereby completing the entire North American Pokédex.
Becoming a legend
Rather than just being of interest to fellow Pokémon Go players on Reddit, this user – a man called Nick Johnson, based in New York – spoke with Business Insider about his exhaustive journeys so he could catch ’em all.
Johnson, who also runs a start-up called Applico, admitted that while he would spend his days working, afterwards he would go on eight-hour treks across the city averaging eight miles a day just to catch these Pokémon.
Much like the New Zealand man who decided to quit his job to focus on playing Pokémon Go full-time, Johnson has managed to establish himself as something of a legend among the online community, going so far as to offer a list of hints and tips to users who might be struggling to find the rarer Pokémon.
Pokémon hunting in an Uber
Among some of his highlights during his epic journey was a trip to Jersey City where he attempted to find one of the rarest Pokémon, Porygon, saying he “may or may not have seen it on the radar and then ordered an Uber to drive me around until I found it”.
Having said that he will keep playing the game for fun, Johnson admitted that he will have to go to some extreme lengths to catch three remaining Pokémon that are not only rare, but located only in specific parts of the world.
Those three remaining ones are Mr Mime, Kangaskhan and Farfetch’d that are located in Europe, Australia and continental Asia, respectively.
Not wanting to give up, Johnson has said that he’s now in the process of finding someone willing to sponsor a Pokémon Go world tour so he can truly say he has caught ’em all.
