RTÉ and IBI looking to build one app to dial them all

30 May 2014

RTÉ and the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland have put out a tender for the creation of a new radio app that will publish multiple audio and data sources over internet protocol (IP).

The successful bidder would ultimately deliver the technology as a managed service.

The tender is seeking expressions of interest from technology companies that have experience in delivering mobile apps to market, especially in the area of media.

Another plus is an understanding of how radio markets work and the necessary technologies as well as user behaviours.

“RTÉ and the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland (IBI) are seeking expressions of interest for the provision of a consumer application capable of mobile playout of multiple audio and data sources over IP, with common features,” the broadcaster said.

“This would be ideally delivered as a managed solution incorporating support and development.”
