The selfie spoon, because photos of cereal are great

We often think we’ve hit ‘peak internet’’ or ‘peak technology’ when we are presented with yet another ridiculous invention or concept, only to be proven wrong the following week when something even more ridiculous emerges.

However, with the Selfie Spoon, we have definitely hit peak selfie.

The brainchild of the people behind the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal (naturally), the selfie spoon is essentially a selfie stick with a spoon on the end.

Why? Why would such a thing exist, I hear you ask?

Well, because, according to the company’s promotional video, when it comes to breakfast, “if you don’t post it on social media, did it really happen’?

With that kind of logic, the world is truly doomed.

Aside from the ridiculousness of the whole concept, the spoon also looks extremely ungainly for eating with, so I would imagine the practicalities of getting food to your mouth while taking a successful selfie might be daunting.

What next? The selfie fork? Probably.

We realise the true reason behind the Selfie Spoon is undoubtedly a clever marketing campaign, but it is still a reflection of the selfie-obsessed world we live in.

Put the camera phones down, people.
